This morning I was walking in Newlands forest and staring at my favourite section of the mountain with great fondness in my heart and I thought I must whip out my cell phone and snap it to share on the world wide web.  Cape Town is one of the most diverse cities in the world with world class beaches, mountain ranges, forests and spectacular valley’s all within 15 minutes drive from the CBD.  This is just one of the many reasons why I love living here and why I believe Cape Town is definitely a destination every nature-loving traveller should visit.  I invite you to sit back, take a long, deep breath and let the joy of my sky, my forest and my mountain fill your heart with peace as only nature can.  Happy Friday! Every year around September when the air is filled with pollen and many Capetonians are sneezing their way through the day, Mother Nature has a show of her own in an area to the west of Cape Town known as Namaqualand.  Scores of people set out for the day or weekend to witness the blooming of millions of daisies and assorted fynbos flowers.  I never seem to get the timing right but I am always rewarded with similar blooms right in the city on the slopes of Lion’s Head and Signal Hill.  The other morning I captured these beautiful violet flowers with the softest, velvety texture on my cell phone.  Flowers have the power to open your heart and fill your being with joy.  Next time you pass a blossom or a bloom I highly recommend taking a few minutes to stop and admire the simple majesty of nature!

I have been on leave for the past two weeks and despite all intentions of keeping up the blog I am afraid to say that laziness won out.

On Saturday morning I walked one of my favourites – Lion’s Head – and it was really spectacular looking down over a CBD covered in mist as the sun was rising.  For those unfamiliar with Cape Town, Lion’s Head is situated above the city alongside Table Mountain and is named for its resemblance to a Lion with Signal Hill as the Lion’s body.

If ever you are looking for someone to walk up with I am always more than willing!
